Only in the German carnival –
and not at all well-behaved.
Carnival is everywhere, Weiberfastnacht too, but the legendary washer princess is actually only available here in Beuel. Since 1958, it has been proclaimed annually in a historic ceremony and, together with its washerwomen and the Obermöhn (Möhn is the Rhenish term for a married woman), is the radiant unit in the Beuel carnival sky – with supra-regional radiance.
As the highest representative of our Women’s Carnival, the Washer Princess is the pride of an entire region and is largely responsible for the great success and popularity of the Women’s Carnival.

She has been an active member since 2021 and now leads the above-mentioned group herself. In 2017, she took over the moderation of the children’s costume party of the parish of St. Josef. In 2018 and 2019, she even planned and hosted the carnival session at her former school, EMA-Bonn.

She works as a tax inspector at the Cologne South Tax Office, which explains why she lives in Hürth. For the carnival months, she naturally moves back to her home town of Pützchen.

Laundresses Jule (Thomas)
Damenkomitee St. Josef

Personal details about Jule

is the youngest member of the session at the age of 19.
As washer princess Judith herself was active as a washer in the Beueler Weiberfastnacht team at that tender age, she liked the application very much and spoke in favour of Jule.ist mit ihren 19 Jahren das Küken der Session.

Jule can also look back on carnival experience.

In 2012, she was already a children’s laundress at Pius Kindergarten and today, as an adult, she can fall back on two local carnival clubs.

She has been a member of the ‘Beueler Fründe’ since 2023 and was accepted as a committee sister in the St Paulus ladies’ committee last session. There she also accompanied some of the performances of last year’s Wäscherprinzessin Lea. I.

She is completing a dual study programme at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and the professional part is actively managed by the BSC.

The Möhnen

She is where all the threads of the carnival come together.

The president of the Alte Beueler Damenkomitee von 1824 e.V. is also the Obermöhn of Beuel. The Obermöhn is the ‘general manager’ of Weiberfastnacht. Among other things, she convenes the selection committee and decides together with the committee on the washer princess and her washerwomen.

Patty Burgundy

On 25.04.2012 Patty Burgunder took over the previous office from Ina Harder as Vice President of the Old Beuel Ladies Committee and thus also as Vice Obermöhn.
Professionally, Patty can be found at Sparkasse KölnBonn, where she works as a private customer advisor and has found a great supporter for Beuel customs in her employer.

Honour to whom honour is due.

They were once Obermöhnen themselves, today they are at the side of the current laundress princess with advice and support. And in other respects, too, one (or woman) is extremely actively integrated into the life of the association in this function.

Ina Harder

In 2012, after several years as Vice President, Ina Harder was elected President by the members of the Ladies’ Committee, replacing Evi Zwiebler after 14 years of dedicated work for the Beuel tradition. In 2012, she handed over the baton to Patty Burgunder.
Ina Harder grew up in Beuel and naturally lives in this beautiful neighbourhood on the Rhine.
Together with Winni Lombardo, she runs the ‘Wirtshaus Rheinbrücke’ pub in the heart of Beuel, which is also the court castle of the Wäscherprinzessin during the carnival season.

Seit 1988 aktives Mitglied im Alten Beueler Damenkomitee von 1824 e. V.

Evi Zwiebler

Evi Zwiebler was President of the Old Beuel Ladies’ Committee and Obermöhn from 1998 to 2012.
After 25 years as President, Erna Neubauer (today: Honorary Obermöhn) handed over her office to Evi Zwiebler. It was not a sudden move for her. As Vice President, she had already had a taste of the duties for several years. As a former washer princess in the anniversary year 1973 (150th anniversary celebrations), she also brought a lot of carnival experience with her.
Evi Zwiebler was 45 years young when she took office, had two school-age children and an understanding husband. Evi Zwiebler worked professionally for the city of Bonn and in her spare time she is still involved in the 1st Badminton Club Beuel. As a multiple German badminton champion, she also has special ties to this club.

In recognition of this, Evi Zwiebler was appointed Honorary President and Honorary Headmistress at the General Assembly. Like Erna Neubauer – who was appointed Honorary Headmistress in 1998 – both Honorary Presidents have voting rights on the Executive Board.

Honour to whom honour is due.

Erna Neubauer

Erna Neubauer (*01.06.1929, †16.12.2022) was president of the Old Beuel Ladies Committee and Obermöhn from 1973 to 1998, handing over her office to her successor Evi Zwiebler in 1998.
Erna Neubauer was thrown in at the deep end in 1973 when the then president, Maria Balzer, suddenly had to give up her office for health reasons. Erna Neubauer was 43 years young at the time, had five children who still lived at home and had to be cared for, and an understanding husband who helped her to fill this time-consuming honorary office with flying colors during her 25-year presidency. During her time in Obermöhn, the Beuel Women’s Carnival developed into an even bigger folk festival and the storming of the town hall was a spectacle that attracted many thousands of visitors to Beuel.
The proclamation of the washer princess was also developed into a special social event. In the sports hall on the Ringstraße and later in the large hall of the Beuel Bridge Forum, the proclamation takes place as part of a carnival session. The program contributions are still made exclusively by the Beuel women’s committees. It is certainly also a great merit of Erna Neubauer that the committees from the Beuel districts work together so well and that the cooperation works excellently.

The driver

As a driver, you have the responsible task of safely escorting your madness and accompaniment from appointment to appointment during the hot phase of the carnival. Have a good trip, have fun with the Wievern.

Kalle Reddemann

Since he made himself available as a driver in 2012, the safety of the washer princess before and after her performances has been in his hands.
Kalle comes from Beuel and is a carnival enthusiast with heart and soul. He is an inactive member of the Beuel City Soldiers and the Old Beuel Women’s Committee. At the Old Beuel Ladies Committee, he also supports the ladies of the committee in their activities as a so-called “Möhne man”.
Since the schedule of the washer princess is tight, and the washer princess is on the road at the weekend and also during the week, Kalle is supported by other riders.
